Britain is a world leader financial services. In 2019, finance contributed £132 billion to the UK economy, 6.9% of total economic output. The sector was largest in London, where half of the revenue was generated. The UK financial services sector was the ninth largest in the OECD by its proportion of national economic output. After Brexit, (and after COVID restrictions are lifted) there could well be a renewed focus on the industry and the possibilities of what the easing of EU regulations may mean.
